Boredom Beater 19

A little site called AddictingGames.com was recommended to me, so I decided to check it out. The first game I tried was Virtual Villagers. I found this game to be more annoying than addicting. Though I found myself playing it for a long time but that was just because it took a long time to do nothing. Maybe you will find the godlike control more addicting than I did.

Star Wars Saturday

I ahd been finding a lot of Star Wars stuff on the web and though I would try and add a New Feature... STAR WARS SATURDAY!!! I am not sure if this will be a weekly feature, but ,maybe monthly. Who knows! Anyhoo, here is the first one.

Here is a funny video of a party gone bad with a couple of drunk jedi. My favorite part is when the police are taking the trouble maker away. Enjoy.

Here is the link to it at Break.com. Jedi Party

Weekly Wipeout XXXX

No it is not what you think! This is not some dirty movie filled with wipeouts. You are not going to see some pornstar taking a digger slipping on a pool of spooge. Instead you are going to see a montage of wipeouts, one right after the other. They will be flying at you like pitchforks in a 3-D horror film. Enjoy!

WHAT TEACHERS MAKE...

Someone sent this to me and I thought it was worth sharing...

The dinner guests were sitting around the table
discussing life.

One man, a CEO, decided to explain the problem with
education. He argued, "What's a kid going to learn
from someone who decided his best option in life was
to become a teacher?"

He reminded the other dinner guests what they say
about teachers: "Those who can, do. Those who can't,
teach."

To stress his point he said to another guest; "You're
a teacher, Bonnie. Be honest. What do you make?"

Bonnie, who had a reputation for honesty and frankness
replied, "You want to know what I make? (She paused
for a second, then began...)

"Well, I make kids work harder than they ever thought
they could.

I make a C+ feel like the Congressional Medal of
Honor.

I make kids sit through 40 minutes of class time when
their parents can't make them sit for 5 without an I-Pod,
Game Cube or movie rental...

You want to know what I make?" (She paused again and
looked at each and every person at the table.)

I make kids wonder.

I make them question.

I make them criticize.

I make them apologize and mean it.

I make them have respect and take responsibility for
their actions.

I teach them to write and then I make them write.

I make them read, read, read.

I make them show all their work in math.

I make my students from other countries learn
everything they need to know in English while
preserving their unique cultural identity.

I make my classroom a place where all my students feel
safe.

I make my students stand to say the Pledge of
Allegiance to the Flag, because we live in the United
States of America.

**side note - I don't necessarily believe in this. I believe in freedom of religion, and therefore would prefer in "under God" was removed from the Pledge. This idea of heavenly ordainment on our country seems very Roman Empire-esque. Very Crusades-esque. Also, the whole pledge seems brain-washy. The notion of this mass conformity to allegiance to a government is pretty scary. Not to sound like an anarchist but we should constantly challenge authority to help keep them in check.

Finally, I make them understand that if they use the
gifts they were given, work hard, and follow their
hearts, they can succeed in life.

(Bonnie paused one last time and then continued.)

"Then, when people try to judge me by what I make, I
can hold my head up high and pay no attention because
they are ignorant...

You want to know what I make? I MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

What do you make?"

THERE IS MUCH TRUTH IN THIS STATEMENT: "Teachers make
every other profession"

News2Me: McNabb Ends Rumors

So, I am an Eagles fan. Being an Eagles fan, I have come to not expect much from the Eagles and then I cry alot less. I have learned that high expectations usually lead to disappointment.
Though I have been a fan of Donovan McNabb, I do realize he has his short comings. Even with those short comings, I was astounded when I heard rumors that Eagles would trade McNabb to Minnesota. I was riddled with confusion when I heard McNabb was upset and wanted to leave Philly. Conversations with follow fans and family left me distraught over the future QB for the Eagles. Granted I feel McNabb may be on the downward slope of his career, and he has proven to have difficulty within the high-pressure games, I still feel McNabb is a leader and cornerstone of the current Eagle offense.
Philadelphia needs to look to the near distant future, and think QUARTERBACK, but McNabb needs to be a part of that process. From starter to mentor, McNabb can retire as a legend in Philly. So, I was thrilled to read the article below this morning. Yeah, common sense!

The following article was taken from foxsports:

McNabb says he wants to remain with Eagles
Associated Press
Posted: 4 days ago
MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Donovan McNabb doesn't want to leave Philadelphia, isn't jealous over the success Jeff Garcia had replacing him as Eagles quarterback, and wasn't muzzled by coach Andy Reid.
"The so-called rumors that have started, they're false," McNabb said. "I'm a Philadelphia Eagle and will continue to be a Philadelphia Eagle, hopefully, for more years to come, and hopefully will retire as an Eagle."
With that, McNabb began a 4-minute speech Wednesday at the Super Bowl media center, where he was appearing at a news conference where Campbell's Soup announced it was donating 1 million cans to food banks nationwide. It was his first time speaking at length with reporters since tearing a knee ligament Nov. 19 and, as expected, McNabb had plenty to say.

"It's unfortunate we have to sit here now to discuss this," McNabb said.

McNabb's season-ending injury came in Week 11 against Tennessee. Before getting hurt, he was among the NFL's leaders in yards passing (2,647), touchdown passes (18) and passer rating (95.5).

With McNabb as a starter, the Eagles were 5-5. With Garcia under center, they were 6-2 and won the NFC East title.

"I was actually very happy for Jeff," McNabb said. "I know the fans of Philadelphia wanted A.J. Feeley and cheered for him, but I told Jeff he was brought in here to lead this team."

But while McNabb's season was over, the hubbub surrounding him was anything but.

One report in mid-January, citing unidentified sources close to McNabb, said the five-time Pro Bowl quarterback was upset Reid wouldn't allow him to travel with the team to the playoff game at New Orleans. Reid doesn't allow players on injured reserve to travel, and McNabb acknowledged that he was upset — but only because he and other injured Eagles couldn't help their team.

McNabb, who has led the Eagles to four NFC championship games and a Super Bowl loss, also denied reports he was angry with how fans and players embraced Garcia's success; the perception that his mother didn't enjoy seeing the Eagles win without him; and the notion that Reid canceled a Jan. 19 news conference simply to keep him quiet.

"We both felt nothing good would have come out of it," McNabb said.

He also said the rehabilitation on his knee is going well and according to plan, and expects to be on the field when the Eagles open the 2007 season.

"It feels that it's getting stronger," McNabb said. "I'm able to do a lot of different things. I'm running in the water and feeling strong in the water. But it's a difference between running on land, obviously, and running in water."
